Beschreibung

Vilon is a synthetic short peptide bioregulator developed within the Khavinson school of peptide research. It is composed of a defined dipeptide sequence (Lys-Glu, also referred to as KE) and is classified among the low molecular weight regulatory peptides studied for their organ-specific signaling activity. Due to its minimal structure, Vilon serves as a useful model compound for investigating how short peptides interact with cellular regulatory machinery in immune and lymphoid research environments.

Mechanistically, Vilon is investigated for its capacity to influence chromatin decondensation and gene expression in lymphoid cells. Experimental research models indicate that the KE dipeptide can penetrate cellular and nuclear membranes, interact with DNA-associated regulatory regions, and modulate transcriptional activity in genes connected to immune signaling, lymphocyte proliferation, and adaptive immune balance. These regulatory effects position Vilon as a peptide of interest for studies of epigenetic modulation rather than direct receptor agonism.

Research interest in Vilon has centered on immunomodulatory signaling, age-related immune decline, and chromatin-level gene expression regulation in lymphocyte research models. Investigations have also explored its interaction with thymus-derived peptides such as Thymogen and Thymalin, examining how short dipeptide bioregulators may support immune homeostasis in experimental conditions involving stress, aging, and impaired immune responsiveness (Khavinson V.K., Anisimov V.N., 2009, Advances in Gerontology).

The peptide is supplied as a lyophilized powder to ensure optimal stability during storage and handling.
