5-Amino-1MQ 10 mg
For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Description
5-Amino-1MQ is a research-grade small-molecule compound best known for its selective inhibition of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme involved in cellular energy regulation and methyl-donor metabolism. NNMT activity has been shown to be dysregulated in multiple metabolic conditions, including obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic inflammation.
By suppressing NNMT activity, 5-Amino-1MQ alters intracellular nicotinamide flux and methylation balance, leading to changes in energy utilization and lipid metabolism. Experimental models indicate that NNMT inhibition is associated with reduced adipose tissue expansion, increased lipid mobilization, and improved metabolic efficiency.
(Neelakantan et al., 2019 — Nature Communications).
Due to these properties, 5-Amino-1MQ is widely used in metabolic and obesity-related research, as well as in studies exploring the relationship between methyltransferase activity, inflammation, and cellular metabolic homeostasis. Additional investigations have explored its role in cancer metabolism and tumor progression models where NNMT overexpression has been observed.
The peptide is supplied as a lyophilized powder to ensure optimal stability during storage and handling.
