Description

Selank peptide is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Based on the naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide Tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), the Selank peptide extends this sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide tail, resulting in the full sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. This structural modification was designed to improve metabolic stability while retaining and expanding the biological activity profile of the parent compound.

The mechanism of action of Selank peptide involves modulation of multiple neurotransmitter systems and immune signaling pathways. Research has demonstrated effects on the balance of T-helper cell cytokines, including IL-6 and IL-10, as well as modulation of GABA-ergic neurotransmission. The peptide also influences expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its associated signaling cascades, which are central to neuronal plasticity and stress adaptation. Unlike classical benzodiazepines, Selank appears to produce anxiolytic-like effects in preclinical models without sedation or cognitive impairment.

Current research on Selank peptide spans several active domains, including anxiety-related behavior and GABAergic signaling, immune modulation through T-helper cell cytokine regulation, neurotrophic factor expression and neuroplasticity, cognitive function under stress conditions, and gene expression profiling in central nervous system tissue. Studies have shown that the peptide influences the expression of over 50 genes related to immune and inflammatory processes in rodent brain tissue (Andreeva et al., 2010 – Molecular Biology). Additional research has explored its anxiolytic properties and interaction with inhibitory neurotransmitter systems (Seredenin et al., 2006 – Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine).

(Eremin et al., 2008 — Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine).

The peptide is supplied as a lyophilized powder to ensure optimal stability during storage and handling. COA included with every order. See also: Semax, BPC-157, NAD+
